Computer Community - Recycle Computers

Another possibility of learning computer related technology is by joining a computer community. Though it is different from online schools and programs these computer communities can still prove to be useful to you by answering your questions. However, if you're looking to get certified you might find it difficult as many communities do not offer this possibility yet. Fortunately, even if it's only a small number there exist one or two computer community out there that do offer a program in order to get certified at the end of the program. The only downside to this is that the certification is limited. In other words, you probably won't be able to get a certification in computer animation or computer graphics or anything that's too advanced.

Ashbury Senior Computer Community Center is a non-profit organization that offers inner-city elders the possibility to learn how to survive in this information age. This community offers an Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3). Currently this program is the world's first approved, standards-based training and certification program for basic computing and Internet knowledge and skills approved by CompTIA. IC3 is a great way for advancing in education, employment, or other certification programs. Since, this is offered by a non-profit organization everything that you learn is absolutely free. This organization's main goal is to enhance the quality of life of mature adults through application of technical knowledge, access and hands on experience.

Another community that offers basic training is the North Side Community Computer Lab. It was created in order to educate people for free on how to use a computer. The free training consists of basic computing and Internet skills and advanced mastery of programs necessary to be employed in the current job market such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet Explorer and Windows.

Furthermore, computer communities do not only stop at basic training. There are also more advanced communities such as a computer graphics community. Whereby users teach and answer each other's questions for free. Though you can't get certified at these communities you can certainly learn a lot. By participating in a discussion in the forum you get to share ideas and learn from others. At the same time, you can submit news or write review on software that you think are good or bad based on your experience or you can read it off from someone else.

Moreover, computer community isn't always about getting free classes or free lessons. It's also about helping the world by recycling your old computers or volunteering to help teach others. There are some communities out there that help people by giving them the opportunity to learn and have their own computer. Basically, the way it works is that they gather and recycle old computer parts and then from that repair what can be repaired and create new usable computers. Not only is this beneficial to people but it is also a great way to protect and save the environment. If your about to throw away a very old computer thinking that no one would want it then think again because these communities will most probably want what your throwing away.
